Glazed Beetroot Salad

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 12 young beetroots
  • 25 ml butter
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 6 shallots or 6 small onions, chopped
  • 12 1/2 ml honey
  • 12 1/2 ml flour
  • 5 ml red wine vinegar
  • 5 ml salt
  • 10 ml chopped fresh basil or 5 ml dried basil

Recipe

  • 1 scrape and quarter beetroot.
  • 2 melt butter in a saucepan and sauté onions and shallots until transparent.
  • 3 add beetroot and simmer for 5 minutes, adding a little water if necessary.
  • 4 combine honey, flour and vinegar and add to saucepan.
  • 5 sprinkle with salt and marjoram, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • 6 cool before serving.
