Mandarin Almond Salad

Ingredients

- 1 head romaine lettuce, chopped,washed,and dried
- 2 (11 ounce) cans mandarin oranges, drained
- 6 long stem green onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- fresh ground black pepper
Recipe
- 1 in a large bowl, combine the romaine, drained oranges, and chopped onions.
- 2 heat sugar and almonds in a pan over medium heat until sugar melts and coats almonds; stir and heat until almonds are slightly brown.
- 3 turn onto plate and cool for 10 minutes.
- 4 combine remaining ingredients in a jar with a tight fitting lid; shake vigorously.
- 5 pour salad dressing over lettuce mixture; toss.
- 6 sprinkle with sugared almonds.
