Creamed Dried Beef

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 lbs dried beef, sliced
- 15 cups warm whole milk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1/2 cup shortening or 1/2 cup salad oil
- 1/4 cup butter
- 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
Recipe
- 1 separate dried beef slices.
- 2 saute slices in shortening until edges begin to curl.
- 3 set aside.
- 4 heat milk until just below boiling. (do not allow to boil!).
- 5 combine butter with flour and pepper and add to milk.
- 6 cook 5 minutes until thickened.
- 7 add beef to sauce and blend well.
- 8 serve over noodles or toast.
