Maple Chiffon Cake

Total Time: 1 hr 20 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 7 egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons maple flavoring
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup salad oil
  • 3/4 cup cold water
  • 7 egg whites
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts

Recipe

  • 1 in a large bowl, stir dry ingredients thoroughly.
  • 2 make a well and add, in order, the salad oil, yolks, cold water and maple flavoring.
  • 3 stir until smooth.
  • 4 in large bowl of electric mixer, beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
  • 5 gradually pour egg yolk mixture over egg whites.
  • 6 fold gently until just blended.
  • 7 gently fold in nuts.
  • 8 pour into an angel food baking pan and bake for 1 hour at 350°f.
