Maple Chiffon Cake

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 7 egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons maple flavoring
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup salad oil
- 3/4 cup cold water
- 7 egg whites
- 1 cup finely chopped nuts
Recipe
- 1 in a large bowl, stir dry ingredients thoroughly.
- 2 make a well and add, in order, the salad oil, yolks, cold water and maple flavoring.
- 3 stir until smooth.
- 4 in large bowl of electric mixer, beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
- 5 gradually pour egg yolk mixture over egg whites.
- 6 fold gently until just blended.
- 7 gently fold in nuts.
- 8 pour into an angel food baking pan and bake for 1 hour at 350°f.
